COLOMBIA: Uribe tries to solve crisis in pension fund
Development: President Alvaro Uribe unveiled a tax-reform programme on 29 June aimed at plugging a growing hole in the state pension fund. Under the new scheme, VAT will be extended to cover most goods and services apart from education, health, and public services, and high-level pensions will be taxed.
