PERU: Cajamarca goes on strike over gold prospecting
Development: The northeastern Andean region of Cajamarca went on strike on 8 September to protest against the government's refusal to repeal a law allowing Yanacocha, Latin America's largest gold mine, to carry out exploration in Mount Quilish, near the provincial capital of Cajamarca.
