GUATEMALA: Rosenthal accepts nomination for OAS post
Development: On 13 October Gert Rosenthal announced that he would accept nomination for the position of secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS) if the Central American nations unite behind his candidacy. Rosenthal, who is currently the permanent representative of Guatemala to the UN, has served as the executive secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac).
