MEXICO | Recovering 'diverted' public funds. The ASF, the federal auditing agency which reports to congress, announced on 20 July that it has recovered the equivalent of US$1.8bn worth of public funds misappropriated in 2002, 2003 and part of 2004. Preliminary findings for the remainder of 2004 have revealed the misappropriation of more than US$3bn.
