Brazil: Brazil registered record tax returns in the first four months of 2010. Total federal tax income came to R$256.8bn (US$136.5bn), up 12.5% year-on-year. The result for April alone (R$70.9bn) was a series record. The result suggests a strong economic recovery and should help assuage recent doubts about the federal government's ability to meet its 3.3% of GDP primary fiscal surplus target this year.
