The dirtiness of the gubernatorial elections
On 4 July there are
gubernatorial elections in 12 of Mexico's 32 states. These elections matter
because they are the antepenultimate test of public opinion before the 2012
presidential elections. Political commentators and politicians themselves are
horrified by the viciousness of the current campaigns and fear that the 2012
presidential and congressional contests will be even worse.
