Cuba discovers Thatcherite economics
Development: On 13 September, the Central de Trabajadores de Cuba confirmed official government plans to drastically reduce the public sector labour force, with some 10% of the state payroll, or just over 0.5m workers, to be shed by 1 April 2011, with a parallel major expansion in private sector economic activity.
