ARGENTINA: Kirchner backed to assume PJ leadership
Former president Néstor Kirchner will soon begin to mould the Partido Justicialista (PJ) in his own image after receiving the support of the party's congress to become its new leader on 7 March. Some 86% of the 913 PJ delegates gathered in a convention centre in Buenos Aires. They unanimously approved Kirchner's decision to stand for leader of the PJ. Potential challengers have until 18 April to register for internal elections on 18 May. Otherwise, Kirchner will be rubberstamped as leader.
