In Brief – Colombia
Colombia | Second mass hit against Farc. On 26 March President Juan Manuel Santos and Minister of Defence Juan Carlos Pinzón separately announced that in a joint operation codenamed 'sword of honour', the army, navy, air force and national police had killed 36 members of the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc), including the heads of the 10th and 27th fronts, and captured four guerrillas, including the head of the 53rd front. However, the identities of those killed and captured have yet to be confirmed by judicial authorities. The operation took place in the eastern department of Meta and is the second one of its kind this month; the guerrillas are believed to have been taking part in a meeting held at one of the group's training facilities.
