NICARAGUA: Exports up
In the first two months of 2012 the country’s exports rose 16.7% year-on-year in value terms to US$451m, according to figures from the Centro de Trámites de las Exportaciones (Cetrex).
The 28% increase in volume terms (at 352,930t), indicates that the effects of the commodity boom are beginning to tail off. The Cetrex said that a good harvest and decent prices for coffee, beef, gold, peanuts and dairy products were the main reasons for the rise.
