BOLIVIA | Yet another nationalisation. On 18 February Bolivia’s President Evo Morales ordered the nationalisation of the country’s main airport operator, Servicios de Aeropuertos Bolivianos (Sabsa), expropriating it from Spanish firms, Abertis and Aena. This is the third time in the last 10 months that the Morales government has nationalised companies controlled by Spanish capital. Unlike the other expropriations, the latest incident was not taken as lightly by the Spanish government, which has warned Bolivia that following the “hostile” act, it would “rethink bilateral relations”.
