There are signs that the institutional clash between the presidency and congress over the last two months is eroding the opposition's political capital. A poll released this week showed the approval ratings of President Cristina Fernández and her husband Néstor Kirchner climb five percentage points between February and March to 28% and 27% respectively. There was a concomitant fall in the positive image of key opposition figureheads, Vice-President Julio Cobos and the mayor of Buenos Aires, Mauricio Macri, who just announced his intention to run for the presidency in 2011.
