President Rafael Correa marked his 10^th anniversary since coming to power on 15 January with a special event in Guayaquil, Ecuador’s port city and business hub, that doubled as an electoral campaign rally for the ruling left-wing Alianza País (AP). Correa was accompanied on stage by Lenín Moreno, the AP’s presidential candidate, and Jorge Glas, his running mate who began a brief leave of absence as vice-president on 5 January in order to stand for election.
