Jamaica: Stirring the China debate
On 8 August, former Minister of National Security Peter Bunting, of the opposition People’s National Party (PNP), participated in a video entitled Chinese Take Over? Bunting’s contribution included the assertion that China was operating “a form of economic colonialism” in Jamaica. Inter alia, Bunting asserted that 14 Chinese companies operating in Jamaica controlled 50% of the construction sector.
