Given Barbados’s economic problems, it is perhaps surprising that violent crime ranks so highly as a concern for its citizens, especially as its crime rates look relatively good compared with many of its neighbours. But opinion surveys show that crime is uppermost in most voters’ minds as the Democratic Labour Party (DLP) struggles to engender a feel-good bounce ahead of next year’s general election.
