Gravitas was not much in evidence in the slanging match that erupted last week between Colombia's two highest judicial bodies, the supreme and constitutional courts — the former proclaiming that the latter had become a `despotic [...] threat to democracy', the latter riposting that the supreme court had always `rebelled against our existence'.
