HAITI | Arms distribution alert. On 12 October, the civilian head of UN Stabilization Mission in Haiti, (Minustah), Edmond Mulet, issued a call for information regarding the distribution of weapons by groups close to the government in the runup to the presidential and legislative elections scheduled for 28 November. Several candidates had recently stated publicly that weapons were being handed out to followers of the Préval government with the purpose of intimidating voters.
