ECUADOR: Lasso talks trade in Southern Cone
Ecuador’s President Guillermo Lasso travelled to Argentina and Uruguay from 17-20 April, where he held discussions on trade with Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández and Uruguay’s President Luis Alberto Lacalle Pou. In both countries Lasso voiced his ambition of delivering a free trade zone in South America modelled on the European Union (EU). More realistically, he also made a strong push for bolstering Ecuador’s trade relations with Uruguay.
