The hype surrounding the economic potential from the so-called ‘lithium triangle’ in the central Andes over the past year has taken on near-epic proportions. Optimistic growth projections show the ‘white gold’ replacing beef, soy, or wine as a top export item, and there was even talk of Argentina, Chile, and Bolivia forming a ‘Lithium Opec’ to dominate the world market.
