According to preliminary results from Haiti’s 20 November presidential and partial legislative elections, which show an outright presidential victory for Jovenel Moïse of former President Michel Martelly’s (2011-2016) Parti Haïtien Tèt Kale (PHTK) party, among those elected to the 30-member senate is Guy Philippe, who led the armed uprising in February 2004 that toppled populist former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide (1991, 1994-1996, 2001-2004).
