The Left’s plan to beat the gangsters

The shadow of the 2012 presidential and congressional elections is beginning to loom. Next month, on 4 July, 38% of the electorate goes to the polls in state and municipal elections. The crucial votes are for 12 state governors. The general assumption is that the main opposition Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI) will sweep the board, defeating the coalitions set up specifically to stop it, and perhaps even winning back Aguascalientes from the ruling Partido Acción Nacional (PAN).
