What will the US do about the violence in Mexico?
The US government is clearly alarmed at the level of gang violence in Mexico. The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, mentioned the violence in Mexico twice, in an interview and in a major speech, on 14 and 15 October respectively. As we report inside, she again equated the violence to an insurgency, but also referred to the battles between the gangs as “as inter-tribal warfare… among the drug clans and crime organisations.â€
