Mexico’s foreign policy problems

Mexico has long liked to think that its foreign policy was influential in the rest of the region. Its longstanding policy of non-interference was a regional template throughout the 1970s and 1980s when Mexican and other Latin American governments did things they would rather now forget about. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Mexico started to stand up for human rights, most notably in Cuba.
