Chile: leader in regulation
Chile is widely seen as the regional leader in AI regulation. In 2024 the government submitted a comprehensive AI bill to congress. Its stated aim is to promote the development and implementation of AI systems while respecting democratic principles, the rule of law, and human rights. It is seen as applying to developers in Chile but also to foreign developers, when the output data becomes available in Chile.
