MEXICO | Negligible growth in household income. The average income of Mexican households (at constant prices) increased by only 1.5% between 2010 and 2012, Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) revealed on 16 July. The underwhelming results show the low level of economic benefits that Mexico’s population has received in the last couple of years despite the fact that the domestic economy has experienced a robust recovery (increasing by 5.5%) in 2010 after suffering a sharp contraction in 2009 as a result of the global financial crisis.
