BRAZIL: Left-wing parties join forces in São Paulo mayoral race

When Marta Suplicy served as mayor of São Paulo from 2001-2005, she was considered an influential figure in the left-wing Partido dos Trabalhadores (PT). After falling out with the party leadership, she left the PT in 2015, but on 2 February the ruling PT officially welcomed back its prodigal daughter, who will be the running mate of Guilherme Boulos, the candidate of the left-wing Partido Socialismo e Liberdade (PSOL) in the São Paulo mayoral race this October.
