On 17 March three state police officers, including the regional police commander, were killed in Pátzcuaro municipality, Michoacán state. The killings add to those of at least 56 other police officers nationwide this year, according to data from local NGO Causa en Común. Almost all killed worked for state or municipal forces, which have seen a decrease in budget and personnel under President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
