MEXICO: Labour productivity rising but remains low

On 1 May, Mexico’s national day of the worker, business organisations including leading private sector lobby, Coparmex, and the association of human capital businesses, Amech, stressed the need for an increase in labour productivity. Indeed, despite increasing by 1.1% in 2023, labour productivity in Mexico has still not recovered to levels seen prior to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, according to the latest figures from the national statistics institute (Inegi).
