The President-elect, Leonel Fernández, who took over on 16 August, has announced his economic team. It will be headed by Vicente Bengoa, who was the banking superintendent during Fernández's first administration. Bengoa will be backed up by Miguel Cocco, who returns to run the
customs service which he ran in Fernández's first administration.
