TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Manning outlines new anti-crime initiative

On 28 July Trinidad & Tobago's prime minister Patrick Manning made a nationwide broadcast on TV and radio promising action on the crime wave that has seen more than 160 people murdered and 20 kidnapped so far this year. In particular he pledged to reintroduce anti-kidnapping legislation that failed to get the necessary two-thirds majority in parliament earlier in the year.
