CUBA: Power problems
Electricity supply problems are threatening the economy. On 5 August the government introduced a host of new measures to curb demand. These included ordering state companies to close down all non-essential
operations. Air-conditioning and lights in state companies will also be switched off during hours when demand is greatest.
