The first round of Brazil’s municipal elections on 6 October produced strong performances from big tent parties such as the Partido Social Democrático (PSD) and the Movimento Democrático Brasileiro (MDB), as well as for the right-wing party of former president Jair Bolsonaro (2019-2023), the Partido Liberal (PL).
