On 12 October the Colombian military regained control of El Plateado, a town in Argelia municipality in the southwestern department of Cauca that had been occupied by the Estado Mayor Central (EMC) alliance of dissident units from the Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (Farc) guerrilla group.
