In brief: Remittances to Nicaragua up

*Nicaragua’s central bank (BCN) has released new figures showing that the country received US$1.35bn in remittances in the third quarter of 2024, up 10.8% on the same quarter in 2023. This brings the amount of remittances received in the first nine months of 2024 to US$3.83bn, up 11.5% on the same period in 2023. The main source countries are: the US which accounted for US$1.12bn in the third quarter of 2024 (83.1% of the total), followed by Costa Rica (US$100.6m, 7.4%), and Spain (US$78.9m, 5.8%).
