TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Minister resigns over bribery scandal

One of two Trinidadian cabinet ministers accused of accepting bribes connected to an oil exploration project resigned on 8 May. Communication and works minister Franklin Khan, who was also chairman of the ruling People's National Movement, maintained his innocence, but said he was stepping down until his name was cleared. Energy minister Eric William, who also denies the same accusation, has chosen to brave it out.
