DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Economic overview

The latest report from the central bank showed that the economy had grown by 7.3%, year-on-year, over the first nine months. In the third quarter of 2005 the year-on-year growth rate was 10.6%. The fastest growing sectors in the first nine months were: commerce (up 19%); transport (up 8%); tourism (up 6%); agribusiness (up 5%) and manufacturing (up 2%).
