TRINIDAD & TOBAGO: Manning issues warning over PetroCaribe

Prime Minister Patrick Manning warned fellow members of the Caribbean Community (Caricom) on 10 January that Trinidad will not sell them oil if they opt to buy into Venezuela's PetroCaribe initiative. Trinidad, along with Barbados, are the only members of Caricom to reject PetroCaribe, which was launched in June 2005 by Venezuela's President Hugo Chávez to supply Caribbean nations with cheap oil. Trinidad traditionally supplies the bloc's energy needs.
