DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: Dominicans protest against insecurity

In mid June hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of the northern city of Santiago to protest against a wave of violence which has claimed the lives of 47 people in the last 30 days. The march was organised by the Catholic Church, following the murder of an 18-year old medical student who was shot by robbers intent on stealing her mobile phone.
