In brief: Colombia’s GDP up in Q1

*Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has announced that GDP grew by 2.7% in annual terms in the first quarter of 2025. In quarterly terms, GDP was up by 0.8%. This follows year-on-year growth of 2.3% in the final quarter of 2024, when quarterly growth was 0.6%. The steepest year-on-year growth in Q1 was in the categories of artistic, training, recreational, and other services (+15.5%), agriculture, hunting, and fishing (+7.1%), and commerce (+3.9%). Annual contractions were registered in three sectors: mining and quarrying (-5.0%), construction (-3.5%), and utilities (-1.2%).
