GDP bounce. Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) announced on 15 May that GDP grew by 2.7% in annual terms in the first quarter of 2025. In quarterly terms, GDP was up by 0.8%. This follows year-on-year growth of 2.3% in the final quarter of 2024, when quarterly growth was 0.6%. The steepest year-on-year growth in Q1 was in the categories of artistic, training, recreational, and other services (+15.5%); agriculture, hunting, and fishing (+7.1%); and commerce (+3.9%). Annual contractions were registered in three sectors: mining and quarrying (-5.0%); construction (-3.5%); and utilities (-1.2%).
