In brief: Paraguay’s inflation slows in May

*Paraguay’s central bank (BCP) has released inflation figures for May, which put monthly inflation at 0%, down from 0.4% in April, and annual inflation at 3.6%, down from 4.0% the previous month. The monthly core inflation rate, which excludes items with volatile prices such as food and fuels, was 0.3% in May and stood at 4.0% in annual terms, down from 0.5% and 3.9% respectively in April. The BCP highlighted price increases in May for some food products as well as for some durable imported goods and various services. However, it noted price decreases in fruit and vegetables and fuel, which it said offset the increases.
