Chinese car companies are experimenting with different approaches to marketing and distribution. Liverpool (not the city in UK, but a department store chain in Mexico) recently announced that it was terminating its sales partnership with BYD. The partnership had lasted for two-and-a-half years, during which time Liverpool built six showrooms and three certified service centres. In 2024 a total of 4,384 vehicles were sold through Liverpool’s national network of 320 stores and dedicated showrooms. This was widely seen as a success, making the department store one of the Chinese company’s main sales channels.
