MEXICO | Industrial production down. Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) reported on 11 July that industrial activity had dropped by 0.4% in May 2025, according to seasonally adjusted figures. The yearly drop was driven primarily by contractions in mining, which fell by 8.4% year-on-year, while utilities (electricity generation and transmission, provision of water and gas) declined by 3.8%, and construction was down by 1.0%. In contrast, manufacturing industries reported an increase of 1.4%.
