NICARAGUA: Ortega attempts tricky balancing act

It was difficult to ignore the presence of Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez at Daniel Ortega's inauguration even if some of the guests, most notably the delegation from the US, may have preferred to. The distinguished group of attendees, including 14 heads of state and Prince Felipe de Borbón of Spain, were kept waiting for an hour and a half because Chávez arrived late. Following the investiture ceremony it was Chávez rather than Ortega who gave the first speech.
