*Honduras’ central bank (BCH) has released new figures showing that monthly inflation in July was 0.40%, down from 0.44% in June. This brings the annual inflation rate to 4.41% in July, down from 4.67% in June. According to the BCH, the slowdown in monthly terms owed to a reduction in the price of electricity due to various factors - a decline in generation costs, increased participation of renewable energy, and improved energy contracts. It also highlights as a contributing factor in the monthly slowdown, a moderation in growth of prices of some products and services related to health and personal care. The BCH estimates that policy actions by the government (fuel and energy subsidies) reduced inflation by 0.74 percentage points regarding the July annual figure.
