In brief: Brazil’s industrial production up in monthly terms, down year-on-year

*Brazil’s national statistics institute (Ibge) has released its latest figures for industrial production, showing a monthly increase of 0.1% in June but a 1.3% decrease in production compared to June 2024. The slight rise in June this year comes after two consecutive months of monthly declines in production. Of the 25 product categories measured by the Ibge, 17 saw a monthly rise in production. The greatest increases were registered in printing and recording equipment (+6.6%) and other transport equipment (+3.2%), while the greatest monthly decreases were registered in electronic machines, devices, and materials (-2.7%) and leather items, travel accessories, and footwear (-4.0%).
