HAITI: Préval accuses US

The Haitian President, René Préval, accused the US of not doing enough to help his government curb the violence in Haiti. In his annual speech to parliament last December Préval declared that "violence [in Haiti] is related to drugs, but everybody knows Haiti is not a producer of drugs". Instead, he went on, Haiti "is a victim of drug-consuming nations, especially the US". Préval referred to a similar speech given six years ago, during his first term in office, stating that the situation had not changed.
