Economic activity down in monthly terms. The central bank (BCB) released new figures on 18 August for its economic activity index (IBC-Br), which showed a 0.1% monthly drop in activity in June. This marks the second consecutive month to register a monthly slowdown. The IBC-Br for agriculture and industry showed monthly decreases of 2.3% and 0.1% respectively, while the index for the services sector showed a 0.1% monthly rise in activity. In year-on-year terms, however, the overall economic activity in June was up 1.4% compared to the same month in 2024.
