MEXICO: El Mayo pleads guilty
On 25 August the former leader of Mexico’s Cártel de Sinaloa, Ismael ‘El Mayo’ Zambada, pleaded guilty in a US courtroom to two out of 17 drug-trafficking charges, thereby avoiding a full trial; US Attorney General Pam Bondi hailed the plea as a “landmark victory” and said Zambada “will die in a US federal prison where he belongs”.
