Current account deficit widens in July. The central bank (BCB) released new figures on 26 August for the country’s balance of payments, which showed a current account deficit of US$7.1bn in July. This marks an increase from the deficits of US$5.1bn registered in June and US$5.2bn in July 2024. The accumulated deficit for the 12 months through July 2025 stood at US$75.3bn (3.50% of GDP), up from US$73.3bn (3.43% of GDP) in the 12 months through June and US$30.7bn (1.37% of GDP) in the 12 months through July last year.
